Hotels in Zone 1 London

The Zone 1 London area refers to tube stations within central London. In the east, the furthest station is Tower Hill and in the west its Earls Court. Kings Cross is the northern limit and Vauxhall the southern most station. The area covers around 12 square miles and is centered on Piccadilly Circus in the West End.

If your London hotel is inside Zone 1 then you are assured of fast and easy travel around the main attractions and shopping areas. The Circle and District tube line can be thought of as the "inner ring road" and encircles Zone 1. The Central Tube line cuts right through Zone 1 from east to west whilst the Piccadilly Line from London Heathrow runs diagonally through Zone 1 via Piccadilly Circus and Covent Garden to Kings Cross.

Hotels in Zone 1 London are very plentiful, probably 500+. The main areas for hotels are West End, Mayfair, Kensington, Bayswater and out to the east, The City. All hotels within this area (excluding The City) are very suitable for tourists. The main criteria is budget with Mayfair being the most expensive followed by the West End and Kensington. Bayswater hotels are usually the lowest priced "like for like". As with any city, it is possible to find bargains, these are usually 4 star which are capable at quiet times of reducing their prices to 3 star competitors.
